Fake Colgate Toothpaste Products From China and South Africa Spotted Circulating the Market!
At first glance, it looks like the real Colgate toothpaste, but take a closer look, and the subtle differences can be pointed out.
For example, the manufacturing label on the fake product comes from South Africa. Colgate sent out a warning to the consumers that they do not import their toothpastes from South Africa or China. Also, some of the notable identifications of the fake toothpaste include the European spelling of the words flavor and defense, which is written in the box as 'flavour' and 'defence'.
The real Colgate toothpastes manufactured in the United States show the drug facts printed on the box with an approved seal of the American Dental Association while the counterfeit toothpastes show the endorsements of dental associations in South Africa. Some of the fake Colgate toothpastes contain diethylene glycol, a chemical that is not present in the original product.
The owner of the store said that the toothpastes came from a wholesaler. After being informed that the Colgate toothpastes they are selling are fake, the owner of the store immediately removed the products from the shelves to avoid any health complications from their customers.
The FDA (Food and Drug Administration) states that the diethylene glycol present in counterfeit Colgate toothpastes present dangerous health risks which could potentially cause kidney and central nervous system failures, paralysis, and even death.
So it's very important to make sure that the Colgate toothpastes you're buying are the real ones, because the counterfeit products pose too much health risks.
